Year End, 2019

Brethren in Christ,

We’re greeting you all in the precious, saving name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and ‘’wishing you a blessed Happy New Year full of God's marvelous Grace and victory’’.

As we do first every New Year, we would like to express our special gratitude and thanks once again to our esteemed Elders, Deacons and church members, for their tireless commitment and generous financial support to the Lord’s field throughout Haiti in season and out of season. Special gratitude is also extended to all our partners in Christ for their confirming, encouraging words while political unrest, uprising is ravaging the poorest country of the western hemisphere, may God bless you all. These last two years (2018-2019) have been tremendous!

It is an awesome privilege, to help fulfill the Great Commission that our Lord assigned to His Church! This Commission goes beyond the borders of my assignment. Every graduate and believer is called to evangelize. Our gratitude and many thanks to the Elders, Deacons and members of the Northeast Church of Christ in Kingsport Tennessee for their courageous oversight and the financial support even in moments of hardship over the years to the Haiti work, stay mission-minded brethren!

The holiday period of 2019 has passed, now draws to the New Year 2020. We are reflecting on God's amazing grace and goodness He has shown us during the year 2019. We want to share with you our blessings that have been multiplied by your tremendous prayers and donations.

We also thank the Central Church of Christ in Sarasota Florida and the Atlanta Road Church of Christ and the Central Oconee Church in Georgia, Brother Bob Patterson and the Southwest congregation in Tigart Oregon for their prayers, and their support of all kind. With direction and power from God and with your prayers and gifts, we’ll touch more lives in 2020 and baptize large number of people than ever before.

Let’s say that once again: “We exist to (1) see the lost saved and (2) see the Church changed and living in unity by the power of God!”

As evangelistic strategy, seminars for denominational preachers continue to be the main thrust of our ministry in Haiti, Guadeloupe and in the Dominican Republic.

In 2019, with the help of many more volunteers, we ministered extensively over 36 times with the graduates, the actual students and the Delmas leaders to local churches throughout the country and overseas; as a result a total of 2,594 baptisms at the Delmas congregation and other converted churches. At Delmas 43, we’ve registered 85 precious souls added to the Lord’s kingdom; young men and women continue applying to attend the School of preaching, 185 bibles were distributed to new Christians in the year 2019. We thank God for this tremendous harvest.

From now on, other upcoming seminars for denominational preachers are scheduled: February 10 to 12 Haiti, February 23 to March 1st. Guadeloupe, July 16 to 18 Haiti, October 30 to November 2 our preachers retreat and from November 19 to 21 of 2020 in the Dominican Republic. We’d appreciate to have you with us participating in one of these events.

We also continue to claim your prayers and financial support on behalf of so many of our brothers and sisters who are still worshiping in miserable condition, church facilities that need to be rebuilt and an emergent place we need to rent for the added saints in Pintura DR who are unable to have a stable house for their meetings. Our God is so compassionate; He will hear their voices one of these days.

With the year ending, we’re asking two things of you. (1) Make as substantial a gift as possible to our ministry right now and (2) consider supporting our work on a monthly basis. We’re accomplishing an important mission for the Kingdom of God and we invite you to play an ongoing part with us in 2020 and until the Lord returns for His Kingdom. We look forward to God's plan for this year. May the Lord direct your steps as He fills your lives with His presence and love?

Send funds as you’re willing to do our Father’s business, to our Elders at the:
Northeast Church of Christ, 2217 Beechnut Dr. Kingsport, TN. 37660.

‘’Training young men and women to make a difference by preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Guadalupe’

John Robert St. Hilaire

I, Rod Myer, am a product of the churches of Christ in the southern USA having been raised in Dasher, Georgia. I am familiar with many “great” preachers who have lived and died. However, I can say, other than Marshall Keeble, I have never known any evangelist who has done more for the spread of the gospel of Jesus Christ than Jean Robert St. Hilaire of Haiti, and he is not finished. I met JR over 30 years ago when he was in his 20’s, just beginning to preach the gospel. Unfortunate circumstances put him in a position of leadership at a very young age.

I was there when we met in a small house near a canal on Delmas 40 (one of the main roads through Port au Prince). There may have been 20 people there that Sunday. It was the beginning of one of the most successful evangelistic churches that has ever been planted. Today that small band of brothers and sisters has grown to a church of over 2000-but that doesn’t tell the whole story. Had it not been for 1) economic and political conditions that spread people often to find work in other areas; 2) an earthquake in 2010 that killed over 250,000 in one day and displaced thousands throughout Haiti and other countries; 3) and the intentional sending out of dozens of evangelists trained in the school of preaching in Port au Prince, who along with JR have established over 250 churches around the world, including places like Paris, New York, Boston, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, Guadeloupe, and many others, this church would number in the many thousands. As I get older and continue to travel to Haiti at least once per year, it seems that Jean Robert is not slowing down. People are still being baptized and churches are being planted.

But, to me there are two facts that leave me sad regarding this ministry. First, that Jean Robert is not known as Marshall Keeble is. In our day and age, we have a prince of evangelism among us and yet he is hardly noticed. His experience and skill should be shared with others who could learn so much from him. Second, this ministry has been so poorly financially supported.

It is amazing what has been accomplished with so little. Of course, there are those who have faithfully supported this work through the years, not the least of which is the Northeast Church of Christ in Kingsport, TN who oversee the school of preaching work. But, I know how much more could be accomplished if we were able to provide 1) more financial security for Jean Robert’s family (he has a son who is near graduating from Heritage Christian University, a married daughter, and a eight year old, and his beautiful wife Shirley); 2) a work fund for travel and helping the new church plants get off to a good start.

Mission work is always affected by politics. This is especially true in so-called third world countries like Haiti. This past weekend the country was shut down by rioting. The focus of the protest was against the president who is suspected of embezzling millions of dollars. It appears that many Haitians have simply had enough. Pray for a just and peaceful resolution so that the country can prosper, and the gospel can be spread without fear. Speaking of the work in Haiti, plans are being made to return to Guadeloupe this summer, and then another trip to the Dominican Republic. A new church is being planted in Paris, France. Just this year three new churches have been planted in Haiti and the DR.

Pray for Jean Robert and the great work he and his team are doing. People are begging for Bibles, more discipleship training, and more logistic support. CMI is committed to seeing the gospel spread. (Central Missions International - www.
 centralsarasota.org).
We are in full support of Jean Robert.

Here is my appeal in this newsletter: Would you like to be a part of one of the most successful and productive evangelistic movements of the 21st century by providing regular support for this ministry. The Central Church of Christ in connection with the elders of the Delmas 43 Eglise du Christ in Port au Prince will make sure these funds are put to good use.

Here’s how you can help:
You can donate by calling or contacting our overseer Elders,

Thanks for all you do in season and out of season, you mean a lot in the Lord’s Kingdom. If you are not yet a supporter, please insert this mission-work in your budget for the years to come. We’d like to hear from you as soon as you can.

Sincerely,

Rod Myers

Stay committed, blessed and mission-minded!

Jean Robert St-Hilaire.

Guadaloupe is Calling

Haitian people are being dispersed throughout the world. Colonies are springing up in places like Brazil, Chile, France, New York, and now Guadeloupe, a French island in the eastern Caribbean Sea. We began to hear the call in 2018 to go and hold a four day seminar for area Haitian preachers. So Jean Robert St. Hilaire and Rod Myers are going February 23-28, 2019. We will teach the outlines called “The Truth Will Set You Free” written almost 30 years ago and translated into French. Thousands have been led to Christ through these messages.

How Much Do We Need to Conduct this Seminar?

This investment is $2500. $700 has already been raised. So we need $1800. I found out there is no easy way to get to Guadeloupe-but the Lord is working it out.

Checks can be made to Central Church of Christ, 6221 Proctor Rd, Sarasota, Fl. 34241 Att: Rod Myers
