To all our donors and on behalf of the Mission South Haiti,
we want to give you a heartfelt thank you. Your monthly financial
contributions have made a difference in young men and women at the Center
of the Delmas Institute for Biblical Studies, making their training
possible. Through them you are spiritually changing thousands of lives and
spreading the true Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ in Haiti. We hope that
you realize the great sense of fellowship you have in this work!
Graduation
The 10th Graduation ceremony of the Delmas Institute of
Biblical Studies (IEBD) was held on September 23, 2018. Dr. Maurice
Pierre of the State University of Santo Domingo was the speaker. 24
students graduated, Jean Robert St-Hilaire presented a strong
spiritual encouraging introduction on Good Soldier’ from 2 Timothy. Doctor
Maurice had a tremendous visit – meeting students, visiting other
satellite biblical schools of the Mission South Haiti ministry. We are in
the process of beginning a class and receive applications for the next
2018-2021 promotion which will be started in the last week of October
2018. We are preparing and praying to accept 25-30 new students.
For one of the new things we’re praying is to have 2 more
dedicated volunteer new teachers added to our Faculty Board – one for
Pastoral Psychology and Counseling and the other for Homiletic and
Pastoral Ethics. Because of our limited budget we couldn’t afford to keep
these important professorial members for a monthly salary.
Registration & New Teachers
From January 1988 until June 1990, the Snellville Church of
Christ in Snellville Georgia had oversight for the work; however, becoming
forsaken Brother Rod Myers and the Boca-Delray Church of Christ held the
management and were seeking a sponsoring congregation for the school.
Since 1992, the Northeast Church of Christ in Kingsport Tennessee has had
oversight and sponsor the full financial support, we’re so grateful to
them.
The school now graduates between 24 to 30 preachers every 3
years, then another 50 every year from 20 satellite schools all over the
countryside in partnership with the Sunset International School Program
(SIBI). From January 1988 through September 2018, 288 preachers from the
Delmas Institute, 300 other from Satellite schools have graduated and
established over 263 congregations of the Church of Christ not only in
Haiti but also in Punta-Cana, Bavaro, in Sosua, in Puerto-Plata, in
Santo-Domingo and in Jimani all are cities in the Dominican Republic; then
in Aruba, Turk’s Island, Suriname, recently the first Church of Christ in
Guadeloupe, in Paris, in Boynton Beach Florida, Brooklyn New-York, in
Connecticut and in Cambridge Massachusetts.
Very soon, other graduates will start Haitian Churches of
Christ in Chile and Brazil because around 190,000 Haitians have left Haiti
for economic crisis and have traveled to these 2 countries, many of them
are our church members. There are currently 120 graduates working with 165
congregations without financial support. According to our records of
people baptized by students of the school of preaching between their
school sessions and their graduations, we count 23,609 baptisms in
a 30-year period, to God be all the glory! The number of Christians
baptized as a result during and after seminars and preachers retreats is
not included.
